A story set in the 1930's when times were extremely tough and work was hard to find. The story involves a circus veterinarian and explores the relationships not only between the "bosses" and the "working men" but also between the humans and the animals. The story is told by the veterinarian when he is in his 90's and looking back upon his work and his life. It also briefly touches on the emotions of aging not specifically what happens to your body but more how your body traps and limits what your mind thinks you're capable of. A good solid story and a definite recommendation to read.
