Ya' know... I've always liked King. I liked "It" because it made me afraid to go into the bathroom without the lights on, and afraid to get close to storm drains along the street. "Tommyknockers" scared the hell out of me, but it was a bit long. I LOVE his "Gunslinger" series of books and can't wait for the new installment of that.
But this book... THIS book is something else completely. I give it a pucker factor of ten and add the plus value of a spatula (to get your butt off the couch - sorry). The dialog was incredible, the kind where you take notes of phrases you'd like to quote somewhere else. The characters were flesh and then some. And the bad people? They were beyond B-A-D. In a world where it is more likely that bystanders would turn and keep walking instead of coming to one's aid, King makes you wish that you could actually stop and DO something to help these people. How King truly knows what the face of Evil looks like, I don't want to know.
732 pages read in 2-1/2 days. A new personal record for me.
Great book!
