Really enjoyed the House at Riverton so was really pleased to find this in a charity shop. Planning to take on holiday with me.

A thoroughly good read set partly in Australia, London and Cornwall and spanning three generations from the 1900s to 2005. I loved the unravelling of the mystery of Nell's birth and parentage. I found the characters really engrossing but I was sorry that Nell reacted as she did when her 'father' revealed on her 21st birthday that the family she thought of as her own were not her true kin. The constant dipping backwards and forwards to the early 1900s, 1975 and present day 2005 was fascinating and there were definite similarities to The Secret Garden by Frances Burnett Hodge which obviously inspired elements of this novel.

I must look out for her earlier novel The House at Riverton now and see if that is just as good.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Left by Tree number 22 in this beautiful display of over 200 Christmas Trees. This tree was decorated by the Asfordby Garden Club with, obviously, a garden theme. I thought the book suited the tree perfectly!
