Vernor Vinge is one of my favorite SF authors, and until I read this book I liked everything he had written. There are some interesting ideas in this book, but much of the story seemed obvious to me. I'll release this one soon, hoping that somebody else will have something better to say about it.
Read this years ago...an early minor work of Vinge's, with some awesome little bits, but as a whole a fix-up novel and inferior to *Marooned in Realtime* or *Deepness in the Sky*. Definitely fun and worth reading.
