I thought this was a wonderful read - from the great map inside the covers to the creative connected stories & characters through centuries & countries, based on a true story.
Impressions that will stay with me: the respect & personal risks taken by Jewish, Christian, and Muslim individuals, to preserve and safeguard a special religious book; the informative & interesting details of old/rare book analysis and preservation; the timelessness of struggles among countries and religions - and the power of individual courage and integrity.
Saving this one for ResQGeek - for an in-person local meet-up next week.

A wish list book! Thank you very much...now if I can just keep Mt. TBR from collapsing in a catastrophic avalanche when I squeeze this into the pile...
This book is a bit of a mixed bag. I found the stories about the history of the Haggadah to be interesting, but I was a bit disappointed with the modern segments in between. While the information about the experts analyze and conserve ancient manuscripts was interesting, I found the rest of Hannah's story to be a bit extraneous and disjointed. However, the story of the Haggadah through history highlighted the struggle of the Jewish people through European history, as well as an overview of the changing relationships between Christians, Muslims and Jews over the centuries. This story serves to remind us that, in spite of all our differences, we really have much more in common.
