On its way to esm! Hope you enjoy it!
It's here! Thanks, shnedwards...
I'm impressed! Is that disturbing, given what this book is? Maybe. It's tremendously weird, but brilliantly written and very funny. I wish mystery writers were as original in their murder methods as Frank is. Esmerelda was my favorite. I was a little disappointed by the ending. I don't think the "twist" was nearly as shocking as Banks meant it to be. There were clues throughout the story, though I wasn't sure exactly how they would play out. But overall I loved this book. It was so vivid and colorful - just a wonderfully entertaining read. Thank you for getting this started again, shnedwards! I have Bibliocrates's address and will mail the book on Monday.
on its way to Bibliocrates...

Caught "The Wasp Factory" today!
Thanks Shelly3110 and everyone else who passed it on before.
I'm very obsessed about the 1001 list at the moment, and I'm interested to see if this dark tale measures up.
:-)
I've got a couple of other books lined up first and if no bookrings arrive I should be able to read this one soon.
Thanks again.

Well bookrings turned up in abundance after I received this book, but once I was able to read it, it is a very quick read.
What an odd imagination that this author has to write about such a twisted anti-hero. At first, I thought psychopaths must be born not made, but reading the twist near the end made me wonder again.
Such convincing writing, it was like watching a train wreck, I just couldn’t draw my eyes away from it. There was quite a bit of Scottish dark humour.
I wonder if reading the book a second time after knowing the twist if it would read differently, I think it might. A very worthy addition to the 1001 list.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this, not a book for everyone, I would think.

This book is on the 1001 books you must read before you die" list that I've been obsessing about recently.
It's going travelling to a Canberra Bookcrossing Meet up.
So I won't be going empty handed. In a bag of books actually :-)
It's at King O'Malley's Pub.
