An enthralling fictional account of the life of a real heroine: the first woman artist to be accepted by the Academy of Florence, who was also raped by her painting teacher.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Artemesia is an intriguing and strong heroine. I will be leaving the book out at an upcoming homeschooling meeting in Woodbury, CT.

I really appreciated getting this book from a friend as i had already read, enjoyed and recommended Susan Vreeland's 1st book "Girl in Hyacinth Blue". Artemsia is a strong role model for women, have your own life, interests and passions that don't depend on a man in your life.
I especially enjoyed all the artisic details and references of the time.
