Thank you so very much. RABCKs are so nice to get.
In researching this book, I find that Nigel Tranter is considered one of the most outstanding British authors of historical novels. The description of this book from http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/ says:
A delightful book for those who enjoy stories of Scotish and English history.
It was almost inevitable that in the 15th century the new Scots royal House of Stewart would have to come to a reckoning with the great House of Douglas. The death of young Will Douglas's father plunged him into a world where might prevailed and the end justified the means.
A delightful book for those who enjoy stories of Scotish and English history.
Received via Historical Fiction VBB on bookobsessed.com Thank you, elsi, for sending it so quickly :)
Scottish history is incredibly interesting and this book certainly represented it well. It had everything: battles, heroes, foes, intrigue and action. The reason why it took me so long to read it is because I found the main character to be really annoying and rather naive and stupid. At first. Later in the book, I found myself rooting really hard for him ;) Really good book, though maybe not everyone's cup of tea.
