Unclaimed at last night's Bangkok Bookcrossers meeting. I might read it before passing it on.

This police procedural set in Scotland features a fascinating main character--Orla McLeod, an undercover agent who has to choose between a vow of vengeance for the dead and a promise made to a child in danger. Atmospheric, unsettling and definitely not dumbed-down--a very good thriller.
