The Jewish exodus from Germany pre-WWII, told through the eyes of a young girl. I was impressed that the author wasn't afraid to include some of the more horrific aspects of Nazi policy, while still keeping it at a level a child could understand.

I was intrigued by the title of this book so I picked it up.
Lovely to meet you last evening FutureCat and your pitch was A1. (If there are any confirmed registrations from firemen be sure to let me know ;-}

This book wasn't what I expected given its title but I was pleased because it wasn't as sad as I had anticipated. Still, life would not have been easy for those who had to leave their homeland. I thought the book did a good job incorporating the adventure and positive learning experiences of living in new countries alongside the hardships involved with leaving your own home and country behind.
I think another bookcrosser wants to read this so I will take it along to the next Auckland BC meet up.

Caught book at a meetup with the Christchurch gals. Hve to admit it was the title rather than the book that caught my attention. Although it was a younger readers book it had an engaging storyline.
