Mr. Bones is a dog belonging to a brilliant and troubled homeless man, Willy G. Christmas. Willy sets off on a trip to Baltimore to find his old English teacher because Willy is concerned who will take care of Mr. Bones after he dies. Since Willy's health isn't good, this is a valid concern.
Thanks so much for your donation tabby-cat-owner!

Very good book -so wise, so touching. I even sometimes forgot that it was a dog who was talking in the book, and on the other hand, I can just imagine a dog thinking that way. Loved it!

Sending this to lamelemon now.
Thank you so much Chania for the wishlist tag book, chocolate and Halloween postcard! So sorry it actually missed Halloween, it arrived at my post office on Oct 26th but there has been some kind of notice mix-up, because I wasn't called to get it. I went today to pick up another book that just arrived, and the kind young post lady brought me your parcel too :)
Book's in great shape, chocolate looks yum, what a perfect way to start a Saturday morning! Can't wait to dive into another Auster as soon as time allows :)

Finished the book last night. Another Auster I've enjoyed, although so different from what I've read so far. Funny how the cover looked like a bird and not a dog to me for quite a while. Mr Bones was funny yet profound, while Willy was downright weird but still enjoyable. I liked the view on family life provided by the Jones' insight.
Thank you all for sharing this book with me, it is once again available for 1001-library members.

This book was chosen from the European 1001 VBB and is now on its way to soffitta1. Auster is quite the prolific 1001 writer, and an easy one to check off the list, one after another special book at a time!
I'm looking forward to reading this Auster, thanks.
A short read, a very different side to Auster. I enjoyed it.

Safely received - thank you :-)
I'm not a dog person and anthropomorphism bothers me. Not my thing.
Received this and two other books as a 1001 BTRBYD RABCK from blackwidow1971. https://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/544659 THANK YOU, for your kind generosity!!! : D As I mentioned in my post in your thread, once I have read them, I'll add them to the 1001Library-USA that elizardbreath is facilitating as of June 2017, so others will be able to enjoy them, as well. http://www.bookcrossing.com/mybookshelf/1001Library-USA

***UPDATE...3 FEBRUARY 2020***
With no activity for several years by four BCers who do come up as having this book listed on their Wishlists (oppen doesn't come up as one, but it's still listed on her Bookshelf Wishlist as being Wished for on 1/21/2012...she passed that June 😇), and with no active 1001 Library...during this, my first year of participation...I've decided to follow BC Tradition by releasing this book into the WILD, in Honor and Memory of fellow BCer oppem's 71st Birthday (3 February), as part of her continuing Birthday Group tradition carried on previously by bookstogive, and this year (2020) by Lamilla. https://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/563523

This quote is from oppem's BC Bookshelf page..."I am a middle-aged book lover who enjoys the idea of sharing some of her books with others - its fun to find new places to leave a book & then hope that someone out there finds them, enjoys them & passes them on.", as is this partial quote..."Lived all over the world & now living in the USA with my husband & dog...". While reading her words, I was inspired to inDEED chose this particular book to release in her Honor and Memory in one of the BC Book Release Bags I received from a fellow BCer in elizardbreath's 2019 Holiday Gift Giving https://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/10/562739, and to release it in a VERy new place that held it's Pre-opening on 1 February ...the Mesa Public Library Red Mountain Branch's new MONARCH HAVEN and READING SANCTUARY GARDEN https://events.mesalibrary.org/events/pre-opening-butterfly-garden-help-our-garden-grow. Being unable to attend Saturday's Pre-Opening, I instead planned to make a brief stop in between doctor appointments near there on Monday, 3 February to see what it was like and make my oppem Memorial release. Much to my delight ...not a soul was in sight. Not yet complete (they will be adding a Labyrinth design in the center of the Garden and are looking for Volunteers to help with that rock work, and plantings, and such to complete the project...oh, it would be such a JOY for me to be able to join in... https://events.mesalibrary.org/events/volunteer-service-day-monarch-haven), the natural walkways are cleared and edged with lovely rustic grained granite and slate rocks, all of the indigenous plants on that little desert plot were left intact and others that attract Monarch and other Butterflies and Pollinators were (and will be) added, as were several park benches. I found the perfect bench in a little nook under a Mesquite Tree near a Saguaro Cactus to sit and watch the birds and the sunset, and I released Timbuktu there before making my way back to the beginning (couldn't beLIEVE there was already litter!, which I was able to pick up and "release" into a garbage container someone thankfully thought to include in the design). I even found my very first "Paint Rock"!!! There are several groups whose participants decorate rocks and hide them in various locations like parks, hiking trails, building/business landscape areas, neighborhoods, etc., that would be fun for someone to find to brighten their day! In turn, that person is welcome to keep, or re-hide the rock...I liken it to BC's Geocaching albeit "au naturel", as you don't need to use a GPS to find a container...just observe your surroundings, and...enJOY!!! : )
