By the author of Balzac and the LIttle Chinese Seamstress. A novel about the dream of love and love of dreams. Fresh from eleven years in Paris studying Freud, bookish Mr. Muo returns to China to spread the gospel of psychoanalysis. His secret purpose is to free his college sweetheart from prison. To do so he has to get on the good side of the bloodthirsty Judge Di, and to accomplish that he must provide the judge with a virgin maiden.
Interesting concept but book rambled on a bit and was in places hard to follow.

I enjoyed Balzan and the Little Chinese Seamstress, so I thought I'd give it a turn. Thanks for including this in the Covergirl bookbox.

I was really looking forward to reading this story, but I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I just wasn't in the mood for something so convoluted, but it was just too much work to keep it all straight. I've tried to get into this several times and at page 65 I am officially giving up.
But to be honest, Freud, dream analysis, and the quest for a virgin really weren't story lines that interested me overly much. There were parts that were amusing, I just had trouble keeping the story straight.
I will likely release this in a bookbox in hopes it will find a more enthusiastic reader.

After my last journal entry, I felt sorry for the book. I am sending this off to Stacers1973 as a RABCK as it's on her wishlist.
