The skeleton of a crucified man has been unearthed in Jerusalem. The archaelogist, a Simonite monk, to examine the find is found dead. Was the body that of Christ? Did the monk really commit suicide? It will keep you reading all night and then - forget.

Released at Metso library in Tampere 17th June, 2008 at 5.30 pm.

I was more than surprised to find a BC-label inside the book - I took this book from the book trade shelf of Metso without even noticing that this is a BookCrossing book. Nadessa hadn't made a release alert, so this finding was a real surprise :) I don't know anything about this author, sounds interesting. To my TBR-pile.

Oops! I notice, that this book has stayed with me for over a year and I haven't felt like reading it. And I still don't. It's time to let it travel and I'll leave it to the bookcrossing shelf of Cafe Hertta tomorrow. I'll ad some BC-stickers before releasing the book.

I found the book yesterday at Hertta.

I didn't like the book no matter how much I tried. It is clumsily written and this becomes apparent on the very first page. There were only a few pages where there was some tension, some emotion, some exitement. The rest of the book read like a description of itself. The book lacked mystery, and what little mystery there was, was efficiently killed by the style. I have to admit that I didn't read the whole book. I consentrated on the dialogue and skipped a lot, because i wished only to find out about the darn skeleton.

And why on Earth was it advertised with the sceleton, when it was only a sidestory? Most of the book was about people finding or losing religion, or living it up in different ways. The skeleton was only a trigger and didn't even appear in most of the first third of the book (only in the first scene).

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I started to read the book but couldn't get far. I kept on falling asleep so I had give up. I remember liking the book Alive from Piers Paul Read so I had high hopes about this one. It's just so different.

I'll take the book to local meet-up.

Journal Entry 8 by Annimanni from Espoo, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Tuesday, May 11, 2010
Picked this up at the Helsinki meet-up tonight because the plot sounded intriguing. Not sure about it now, having read the previous entries. Oh well, we'll see...

Journal Entry 9 by Annimanni at Espoo, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Sunday, April 10, 2011
Given the previous journal entries, I was somewhat apprehensive about reading this book. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised as I actually rather enjoyed it. Like the others, I was slightly put off by the style at first but once I got over it I was as good as hooked. There were a few similar, way too descriptive sections later on too, but I they didn't detract from the experience.

I don't know what it is about religious themes and ponderings such as this that fascinates me. Might have something to do with being an agnostic and finding it interesting how others have such strong convictions about faith and religion.
