The book was interesting because it was written in the 1930s. It contains stories of animals who live in the woods, their relationships with humankind, and a few lessons about life... the natural cycle of life & death, the predatory nature of life itself. Of course, it WAS written in the 1930s so it was occasionally difficult to read due to language. Also, our sensibilities have changed in the last seventy years. I found it interesting, some might find it offensive or boorish. I found the book in the museum at Housesteads Roman fort, took it home with me to Tucson, Arizona, and plan to leave it at the Tucson Desert Museum when I am done, an international destination for nature lovers.
