Never Dead Ned has died 49 times but can't seem to stay dead. Afraid of death, anyway, he found a safe niche as an accountant for Brute's Legion. Upper management transfers him to command Ogre Company, the legion's dumping ground. He has one advantage over previous commanders: no matter what accident befalls, he comes back alive. And then he finds out why he never stays dead, after which he has to go to any length not to die again. That's harder than it seems when commanding such stellar specimens as a two-headed ogre, an orc who's oversensitive about looking like a goblin, a daredevil pilot goblin (and the not very trainable rocs he flies), a siren, a temperamental Amazon, and an oracle who hears and smells the future. Still, he has six months to whip Ogre Company into shape.

Liked it better than Martinez' first book. Awfully funny and kept me reading. 1 point deducted for chauvinism.

May be will be a bookring.

I liked the vampire and werewolf of the "Fright Diner" better, but this one is quite a nice read too (though there are some "weak" pages now and then). And it's a very good example that a leader must not be better skilled - just a somehow charismatic person who can motivate (in an active or passive way as we learn in this book *fg*) its coworkers. The end is not precicely what I expected, but it's ok.

I will personally hand this book over to phoenixfeather when I'm in Germering next time

Handed over on Friday by dearest tiamat and her mom :-)) thanks very much! *zurückwink*
Read it over the weekend, when I was supposed to do lots of other things, but I just couldn't stop. A great read, a fantastic imagination and wonderfully queer characters!
Thank you very, very much for this ring!
Now I'll find out wether WitchCookie ist still fasting.

PS: Und die Eis-oder-Erdbeermarmelade können wir ja wann anders nachholen. :-))) Haben die Tortenbomben denn geschmeckt?
