Got this one today. Wow, that was fast. I'm looking forward to reading it and will send it (along with A Passage to India) to tutmarie when I finish it.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Thank you tutmarie for loaning me one of your personal collection books. Very generous of you! I enjoyed reading this book, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the characters -- maybe that was Hornby's intention.
It certainly has got me thinking about what "being good" really means, and about how little I'm really willing to do when you get right down to it. Sharing books, yeah; volunteering at church, yeah; giving money to charities, yeah; donating stuff to shelters, yeah; taking in a homeless person, no way, not a chance.
Hornby's writing is sharp, witty and fun to read (as usual), and I did really enjoy reading the book.
I'll be mailing this book and A Passage to India to tutmarie later today.

Welcome home my friend! The book has now finished it's cross-Atlantic journey and has arrived safely. I'm glad aaratnayake and JennyO enjoyed reading it.
I'm now lending this one to an American friend living here in Denmark - hope she'll like it.
Well, I never actually did, so it's still here on my shelves.
Lending it to another friend.
