Loved Age of Innocence film and read Ethan Frome in my book group, where someone suggested House of Mirth. I read it and loved it. Lily Bart is such a heroine and the story is one of the saddest. I saw the film of this too but Gillian Anderson couldn't really play Lily - she needs more gaity and life about her. I throughly recommend this book - it is fresh and modern and can be read by anyone.
