sooo..... hiding deep on a shelf is this little book ... i am in search of some romance for a birthday rabck (well the options include romance, young adult and fantasy) and given this has been waiting for someone to send it to, off it goes now

i'm sure i read this way back then - it would have been what i call 'fluff' for those books i read in between tougher reads - 2009/10 was a tough year with death and family stress so i expect that is why i have not done a journal entry

it is not especially memorable, probably not 'great' literature -is it fiction or semi biographical? there are many parallels to the author's personal/real life

a book to not take too seriously

interestingly she has had no more books translated into english - four other books are available in chinese and japanese
no translator has been credited for this book, although a search reveals Larissa Heinrich, at the time at uni nsw,
" The English translator of Marrying Buddha, Larissa Heinrich, a lecturer in Chinese Studies and 'Transnational Chinese Media' in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University of New South Wales, Australia, said of her translation project that:

"It was an exciting opportunity to translate Marrying Buddha," says Heinrich. "The book is an important cultural artefact, it's at the front line of a new genre of semi-autobiographical popular writing being produced by young Chinese women authors."

and off it travels to other parts of the world
