This book was left in Suomenlinna Hostel sometime before our annual BC event, probably by someone staying at the hostel and wanting to recycle their book. I am going to leave the book in the same place, I just wanted to register it first! I don't have the means to label the book before tomorrow, so hopefully someone else will add a few stickers at some point.

Released 15 yrs ago (6/7/2008 UTC) at Suomenlinnan leirikoulukeskus in Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland

Took this book with me from the third Summer days of Finnish bookcrossers. Dalziel and Pascoe are one of my favourite detectives. Almost read the book on my way home.

Reginald Hill is sort of very old fashion author in this genre but he's definately one of the very best. It's hard to say excatly why: I love his characters, they are flesh and bone (And Dalziel is very much so). I love equally much the settings and the plots as well. And he can write. Plus he has this nice dry sense of humour. It's a pleasure to read this series.

I have read quite a few Dalziel & Pascoe books but not this one. When aava brought it to our montly meet-up I snatched it straight away into my bag :-)

It is always the same with Hill's writing style; at first I'm annoyed with the start as it feels so off-putting and irrelevant to the story that is to follow. Then, all of a sudden it all starts to make sense and you can't stop reading. And having finished it you can't wait for reading another story. This book followed the same pattern so even if I didn't like the first 20 pages it got a lot better. The end was also a bit surprising which is always nice.

Got this from the regular BC-meeting of Tampere region. I haven't read any books by Reginald Hill before but I have one other in my TBR pile too, so let's see what I think of these.

Sigh. I never got to read this and now I'm in a situation where my bookshelf needs massive clean up, so I'll just let this go.
