I can't even remember where I picked up this book, but there it is on my shelf! I work in a hospital, though I am not a clinician. I thought this might be interesting. From the back cover:

Current opinion draws a dividing line between the science-based medicine of the West and the more holistic, people-oriented traditions of the East; in the West such traditions are often called alternative, as if they bear no relationship to the Western medical model. But is this really true? Are they so different? When did the rift occur, and can it be bridged?

Medicine: A History of Healing examines the integration rather divergence, looking at the diverse traditions of healing all over the world, tracing their common roots, and showing how Eastern traditions and Western science are gradually coming together again to the benefit of humanity.

I read about half of this before deciding I didn't need to waste my time finishing it. The photos are good, and I have looked at all of them, but the text is pretty dry... I'll mark it as available for now -- maybe someone else will enjoy it more than I did.
