I've had this novel recommended to me on more than one occasion. I've enjoyed other Pilcher books I've read, more for the loving descriptions of Scotland than for the plot. But I plan to enjoy this one.
A novel I almost couldn't put down. But at more than 500 pages, I did occasionally have to put it down. It was a book that really drew you in, with complete characters. Everyone who was kind was completely nontraditional and a bit bohemian. Not set in Scotland like some of Pilcher's other novels, but there is a brief Scottish presence. An enjoyable read.
