This book made me laugh out loud and made me cry, in fact I was still crying for several minutes after the book was done. Gibbons has created one of those most delightful juvenile characters in modern fiction. Ellen is one of the most courageous and honest little girls I know. I say that as if she is real, I know, but that is because after reading this book she is real to me.
