Journal Entry 4 by futurecat from Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand on Wednesday, February 11, 2009
I really struggled with this book. While it was a fascinating (and moving) story, the writing style was rather dense and opaque, which (for me, anyway), muted the effect of the intense emotions of the characters. And the sudden change of narrative focus from Jakob to Ben didn't work for me at all.
Or maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it.
