Burke Devore has been laid off from his long-time job. Unemployed, but not desperate, he manages to find what would be a dream job for him. Unfortunately, he knows that he's not that special and there are many people who would be equally qualified. So he comes up with an unorthodox plan.
This is a brilliant story. Westlake can really do any kind of humor, and in this one he goes deep into the land of dark humor. And apart from the humor, the story also serves as an insightful look at the current job market, presented with Westlake's characteristic sarcastic wit.
