I'm not a big romance fan at all. I've tried to read them before, but usually I give up a few chapters in. I was pleasantly surprised by "Pretty Woman". It wasn't too predictable or cliche. I was interested in the characters. I thought the dialogue frequently got repetitious, especially just over half way through the book. I thought Rosie's agonizing over her dilemmas of the lottery ticket, diet, and love life were a little dragged out. You can only describe a exercise routine or her greedy ex-husband's schemes so many times without being dull. I was happily surprised with Kent's change of heart. It seemed very true to life, although his amazing friendliness and generosity towards Rosie at the end was a little too feel good Halmark movie-ish to me. What struck me as really outlandish and cheesy though, was that Jack's dead wife's spirit dwelt in the willow tree outside his home after he buried her ashes underneath it. It kept thinking of Grandmother Willow from Disney's Pocahantas Movie, especially when the tree "beat" of Kent once or how its branches would swoop down to scoop up people or wave in response when people talked it. The whole book was pretty believable up til then. Overall, it was a good book. I don't plan on reading any more of Fern Michaels' books in the future, but I'm glad I branched out from what I normally read. Thank you immensely again Flossie771 for your generosity and kindness. I appreciate the RABCK. I hope the next reader enjoys!
