I remember that I loved that book. It was very sensual... this connection between love and cooking / eating is very well put together. After all, there is nothing nicer than sharing a nice meal with loved ones. But the book is also about women's position in society, about doing what is expected or maintaining appearances.

I gave the book to a friend of mine who is going to Mexico for a month. I thought it would be perfect since the book was written by a Mexican author and portrays Mexican women. Maybe she'll dare to try the recipes....

I was participating in a Symposium organized by the Institute for International Mediation and Conflict Resolution. Our focus was Latin America, and we had students from different parts of the world there. I became good friends with Jennifer, a canadian student, who decided to put the book in my hands. I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed with the way the story ended (the part about Tita and Pedro). But overall I really enjoyed the book. I am currently studying International Policy at the Monterey Institute of International Studies and plan to release the book before I graduate. Hopefully, it will end up in the African continent.
