I'm surprised I bought this, since it's not the sort of book I go for. I must say, I find Bella to be rather annoying at times, and things get a little repetitive...and the writing is, well, below average... But I would still like to see the movie... :D
__
When 17 year old Isabella Swan moves to Forks, Washington to live with her father she expects that her new life will be as dull as the town. But in spite of her awkward manner and low expectations, she finds that her new classmates are drawn to this pale, dark-haired new girl in town. But not, it seems, the Cullen family. These five adopted brothers and sisters obviously prefer their own company and will make no exception for Bella. Bella is convinced that Edward Cullen in particular hates her, but she feels a strange attraction to him, although his hostility makes her feel almost physically ill. He seems determined to push her away until, that is, he saves her life from an out of control car. Bella will soon discover that there is a very good reason for Edward's coldness. He, and his family, are vampires and he knows how dangerous it is for others to get too close.

Arrived through the post this morning and I am first on the list for Projekt-X's Bookring. Really excited to read this book after all the hype of the film and I will be starting it today to help alleviate the boredom and monotony that is the public transport service.

Thank you Projekt-X for the book, the christmas card, and the chocolates, they were all very well received x

Journal Entry 6 by Danielle23 from Sunderland, Tyne and Wear United Kingdom on Friday, December 19, 2008
Wow, exactly my type of book. Once I picked this up I could not stop until I had finished and may have to buy my own copy so I can re-read it. Absolutely gripping right til the end.

Will be posting this off tomorrow to Mazzlestar and I hope everyone else in the ring enjoys this too, thank you Projekt-X

Thank you, Projekt-X! Oh I was SO determined not to be impressed with this, but I failed miserable. I am completely and utterly hooked. Stupid hype! Off to see the film on Wednesday with my sister (who hasn't read it, as she doesn't read o.O)

Will send it on to Lottie soon :)

Journal Entry 10 by Lottiotta from Aberdovey, Wales United Kingdom on Wednesday, January 14, 2009
How exciting, thank you Projekt-X and Mazzlestar! :) I am looking forward to seeing what's got you all so hooked, and I do have a manga-and-a-half to read on another bookring but this one is next on the list. :)

In a way I can see what the fuss is about this book - I can see why a lot of people would identify with the main character(s). And it's quite an exciting concept. For some reason, it didn't grab me, but I did enjoy it a lot.

My first impression wasn't great though, because the first two chapters were really emo! "I am self-sacrificing and self-destructive and it rains a lot," sort of thing. Fortunately, that makes it more enjoyable when Bella gets her wiggle on. :) I approve!

Now PMing FiBe to get an address.

Book received, sorry for the delay in journalling. I have a couple of bookrings ahead of it I'm afraid (aren't they always just like buses!)

So sorry, various life/family factors got in the way but not trying to make excuses.

Journal Entry 14 by ReetPetite from Beeston, Nottinghamshire United Kingdom on Monday, April 13, 2009
I've seen the film so wanted to read the book. I liked it. It's not a serious book about vampires like Anne Rice but aimed at teenagers especially girls. I liked that Bella wasn't the 'popular girl' type.
Thanks for sharing Projekt-X
