I've been wanting to read this series, but haven't been able to find any of these books. Thanks so much for sending these for the festival, Joanthro!
Excellent, excellent mystery. This is the 2nd in the coffeehouse mystery series (I read On What Grounds just before this one), and I've found that these are very quick reads. This one centers around the search for a psychopathic killer, who's shoving young women to their doom: one off a roof, one in front of a subway train, etc.
I'm enjoying the characters as well. In this one, Clare's found a new love with an engineer/architect. But her ex-husband, Matteo comes back to town as well. Lots to keep her occupied here ;)
Thanks for sharing this, Joanthro. This is reserved for a cozy mystery bookbox coming my way soon.

Putting this in Affinity4books' Cozy Mystery bookbox. Hope the next reader enjoys!
MaryZee handed off the CozyMystery BookBox to me today over a trip to The Book Thing and lunch. She was quite enthusiastic about this series and strongly encouraged me to check it out. I selected this one and the first one in the series to add to Mt. TBR, which is already way too tall, but oh well.
I read the first in this series on the recommendation of a friend who died last fall -- and I read it shortly after she died. I loved it, but was not sure how much of that was my connection to MaryZee. This installment proved that the first one was not a fluke or a sentimental favorite. I will definitely be seeking out others in this series to read, because I like the writer's style and the characters.
The mystery aspect was well done, with a nice amount of suspense and good enough clues to let the reader get to the answer before Clare, but still go on guessing about how Clare would get there. There was one red herring jigsaw piece that I tried to fit in and couldn't, but that is okay by me. I like the recurring characters in this series and was surprised to find myself actually liking even the cheating rat-bastard ex-husband Matteo by the end, since he proved to be a good father and a character capable of growth. I also really enjoyed the information on coffee beans and blends and recipes and such, despite the fact that I have never tasted coffee and never will (it's against my religion), because it was presented in an interesting way and as a natural part of the story-telling.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
I am sending the first two books in this series to a friend of mine in Florida because I think she will enjoy them. Better than having them sit on my shelf forever while I try to get another plan together.
