Foreign Exchange.

Blurb:
The gigantic comet had slammed into Earth, forging earthquakes a thousand times too powerful to measure on the Richter scale, tidal waves thousands of feet high. Cities were turned into oceans; oceans turned into steam. It was the beginning of a new Ice Age and the end of civilization.

But for the terrified men and women chance had saved, it was also the dawn of a new struggle for survival - a struggle more dangerous and challenging than any they had ever known....

A gripping page turner about the devastating effects of a comet hitting the earth. It starts by introducing a wide variety of characters who will eventually come across each other, if they survive long enough. There are some fascinating points to ponder. How far would you go to save yourself and/or your family. Would you abandon others to certain death? Actively kill? Cooperate or hide? Pool your resources of defend them to the death? And when there’s nothing left to eat, would you sooner die than eat another human being, of would you be desperate enough to break one of the strongest taboos?

For me, it dragged a bit towards the end. I also wondered if it was written with a sequel in mind. After all, the predicted Finbulwinter hasn’t reached them yet. I want to know how they coped with that, with saving seed, livestock, etc. And will a more centralised government arise from the submerged world to take over from Senator Jellison’s Stronghold? A really gripping and involving read. Wonderful!
