When I started this book I knew hardly anything about the Aztecs but was interested to find out. It is an amazing book, over 1000 pages long but unputdownable. It is hard to imagine that such a civilisation existed - so advanced and sophisticated in some areas yet brutal and barbaric in others. There is a lot of sex and some of the sacrificial scenes actually made me feel sick but the story kept my attention right through to the end; in fact it was a book I didn't want to finish. I am now trying to track down other Gary Jennings books as most of them seem (unbelievably) to be out of print.

Am going to the Aztec exhibition at the Royal Academy tomorrow so will try and release it in the Piccadilly area.

Left in cafe after visiting the Aztecs exhibition - the first time I have left a book in a place relevant to the book!
