The Rose Rent
2 journalers for this copy...

Bought a couple of years ago second hand.

Young widow gives her best property - a house in the Monk's Forwgate - to the Abbey of Shresbury. The rent is a white rose from the garden of the house. It should be paid once a year on the day of translation of St. Winifred. In the summer 1142 the white rose is destroyd and a body of a young monk lied besides it. Then the widow is kidnapped, her property is in kidnapper's eye. Another man dies and the whirlpool of mysteries is ready. Luckily there is Brother Cadfael to solve these mysteries. Fortunately to young widow there's also a widowed man to save her from harm.
This was such a cute and romantic Cadfael story, in spite of necessary murders. I loved it.
