Another enormous supernatural disaster batters the north of England and its by now well-thrashed inhabitants, courtesy of one of the UK's most original horror craftsmen. This time, an entire northern town is wiped off the map by a psychic earthquake - literally. The survivors find themselves stranded on precarious plateaus, the remains of the down balancing on pinnacles of rock in a dimension where all the evil in the world goes - and grows, and waits for visitors to drop by ...

Stephen Laws writes BIG horror novels, in which BIG things happen, but he never loses sight of the personal and individual elements of his characters, without which there would be no fear, only spectacle. CHASM is original in concept and distinctively English and shows why Laws, along with Simon Clark, is the best horror writer working in Britain today.

(Personally, if it happened to me, I'd be all right - I've got loads of abseiling gear.)
