Nice British/Scottish tale about 5 loosly related people, who wind up in the same Estate house in Scotland, and how it all works out in time for Christmas for them to remain together, and recover from their grief and wounds.

This was picked from the VBB, however after reading this wonderful story I feel my mum in law should read before it goes on it's travels. I am known as MIL's librarian and pass on many books that won't offend, shock or disturb her. I find that hard as I like thrillers VERY much. This little gem will suit her taste and, as the title suggests, this is just the right time of year to read it :)
ETA: MIL says she has just spent a fantastic three days reading this book :)

Thank you, Diane-Fraser, for the book and the lovely Christmas postcard... my first, this year :-)
This is what I call a cozy book, that doesn´t demand much of you and deals with the universal challenges of love, friendship and starting over. A retired actress decides to accompany her recently widowed neighbour to an old Victorian house in Scotland, where an eclectic group of characters are brought together. The setting is lovely and there is a warm feeling in the air, although some serious problems are tackled, such as adultery and alcoholism. A good book for the holidays!
