From the back:
Eddie Carbone is an Italian longshoreman working on the New York docks. When his wife's cousins, Marco and Rodolpho, seek refuge as illegal immigrants from Sicily, Eddie agrees to shelter them. Trouble begins when his wife's niece, Catherine, is attracted to the glamorous younger brother, Rodolpho. Eddie's baffled jealousy culminates in an unforgivable crime against his family and the Sicilian community.
This edition contains notes and activities to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of the play.
I had to read this play for a GCSE assessment when I was aged 15. I don't enjoy reading plays and scripts much so I wouldn't have chosen this myself. However, this play did hold my interest from start to finish. As a 15-year-old I found the plot quite disturbing as I didn't know much about cultural relations at that time. The ending, although not entirely surprising, really got to me and I could quite easily have thrown the book at the wall. The play was so powerful that even pulling the plot apart to discuss it in an assessment did not affect the impression that it left.

Picked up from the book buffet, and destined for release somewhere on my travels.
