Nine-year-old Emily Anne Toussaint is shot dead on a Montreal street. A North Carolina teenager disappears from her home and parts of what may be her skeleton are found hundreds of miles away. For Dr. Temperance Brennan, a forensic anthropologist in both Montreal and North Carolina, the deaths kindle deep emotions that propel her on a harrowing journey into the world of outlaw motorcycle gangs.
As a scientist, Tempe should remain dispassionate. As a caring individual, she yearns to take the killers of the streets. Emily Anne was cut down in a biker crossfire. The North Carolina victim, Savannah Osprey, was last seen hitching a ride with a transient biker. Tempe's nephew, Kit, is intrigued by motorcycles. Does he understand the difference between legitimate riders and gangs, or ishe too mesmerized to comprehend that outlaw bikers are big trouble?
With her boss Pierre LaManche in the hospital, and her friend andrew Ryan disturbingly unavailable, Tempe begins a perilous investigation into the culture where evil often wears a mask.

RELEASE NOTES:
Thank you for the book, Nadezda! I'll try to read this soon and let it continue its travels.
It took some time to start reading this book but good thingd are worth waiting for. There were far too many corpses and too much blood in this book for my taste. Maybe it is necessary as the book is about motorbike gangs. Still I liked the book. I like all those scientific details Tempe is dealing with. I have some more books of the same series on my bookshelf and that is a good thing.
This is my #57 (100) in "REDUCE MOUNT TBR 2010" Challenge arranged by DoveiLibri.
This book is #85 in my Keep Them Moving 2010 Challenge arranged by Guinaveve.

Took it from todays meetup in Kaisaniemi restaurant. Looking forward to read Tempes sometimes idiotic investigations:) Thanks annelis!
Last night I stayed up way too late to finish this book. Towards the end when all things started happening I just couldn't let it be. I agree, too much blood and brain tissue for my liking too, but besides that it was an ok read.
Reichs's books are entertaining and quick read if nothing else. Sometimes Tempe is really annoying with her privat detecting, how such clever Doc do such stupid things. And usually the plot lines goes pretty much the same. With this book Kit annoyed me and the thing that everyone staying at Tempe's guest room gets into drouble.
I have been pondering whether I like these books as much as to put unread on my wishlist or just let it be as it is. After reading maybe five of these now, I might add the rest of the books to my wishlist.
Thanks annelis for the book.
