The Lovely Bones: A Novel
1 journaler for this copy...
This is a murder mystery told from the point of view of a teenager, but though the book contains a suspense that keeps us reading, the suspense is not held in the search for the murderer, the suspense is maintained in other questions. The book also offers an intimate and believable portrait of a family in crisis, drawing us into the secrets of their loss. The book ventures into new ground in terms of point of view, and it verges on poetry in places. Perhaps it is realistic in the portrayal of a murderer, but I usually do not care for fiction about crime. That said, I read to the very end.
