The inseparable Byker Chapter is about six boys, one girl, growing up together in the back streets of Newcastle. Now memories are all that Richard Eden has left, and one treasured photograph. But suddenly, inexplicably, the images of his companions start to fade, and as they vanish, so his friends are found dead and mutilated. Something is stalking the Chapter, picking them off one by one, something connected with their past, and with the girl they used to know...

The Byker Chapter, 6 boys & a girl, were all close while growing up but have now gone their separate ways & each member has just one photo of the seven of them to remind them of their shared past. But the photo is changing...

When Richard hears of the horrific murder of one of the gang Phil, he digs out his photo...only to find that Phil is no longer on it. Had Phil been there when the photo was taken? Is Richard going mad? But when another member is murdered & fades from the picture Richard realises something is hunting the Byker Gang down...but why...& how....well, I'm not going to say & spoil the story for you am I?!!

There's some particulary nasty scenes (in my opinion) involving a ventriloquists dummy but then I've never liked them after seeing an old black & white horror movie years ago....

Okay, it's not a believeable tale, but it's a horror story so you don't really expect it to be realistic do you? But it's a good read & I enjoyed it. I first read this book...oooh, must be going on 20 years ago & have read most of this authors work, & always wonder why he seems to be relatively unknown - I like him!

This is the first Stephen Laws book that I've ever read. Thanks again, Plum-crazy, for granting my wish. I enjoyed parts of this book and other parts seemed to drag a bit. I did enjoy it enough that I would like to try another book by this author if I come across one. Horror is one of my favorite genres, so I was happy to be able to read something by an author who is new to me.
