Memoirs of Fanny Hill
2 journalers for this copy...
I'd seen an excerpt from Fanny Hill in a collection I read several years ago, and this little book (text of the 1779 original) caught my eye on the bookshelf of our local SPCA thrift store. I found it at least as interesting for its historic and cultural context as for the erotic storytelling (the latter of which I found pretty repetitive, somewhat melodramatic, and unconvincingly represented as a woman's memoirs).
Still, I found this on the "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die" list, and so am including Fanny Hill in ivylibra224's book box with this theme. I wonder what its next readers will think of it!
