Well-written story of a young boy's summer on the Arkansas Delta in the early 50's. What life was like back then in the rural south - picking cotton, secrets, cotton, baseball, cotton, the weather, more cotton, and the migrant workers that came through to work... the cotton.

I really enjoyed this. Although the cotton was a major influence on their lives, the actual picking was only a small part of the story. Most of the story was about Luke, and the secrets he learned to keep to make life easier.

Sent another copy on to another BC-er. Bought this hb copy at the used bookstore.

I just finished reading this book. John Grisham is one of my favorite authors, and while this book was a bit different from all others I have read by him, it was very good.

I plan to release this next week while traveling to Tennessee.

Journal Entry 5 by Mimito4 at Meadowview Hotel in Kingsport, Tennessee USA on Sunday, May 9, 2004
Released on Thursday, May 06, 2004 at Meadowview Hotel in Kingsport, Tennessee USA.

In the hallway just outside the elevators, I laid this book on a table. When I came by several hours later, it was gone.
