Was sent this book turnpages, via readitswap.co.uk. I now have a whole pile of German books, which will hopefully improve my German over the next year, before I go on to study it at University! Will comment back on this book once I have read it. (Hopefully in German?)

I have finally started reading this book but it is taking a while as there are a lot of nouns which I don't recognise. My guidance teacher - who used to teach German - leant me a couple of "Easy Read" type books in German and I've started one of them and am finding it a lot easier to read, so I'm thinking that I'll maybe stick to the Easy Reads for a bit and then go back to this one as I don't like having to look up new words every three seconds! It is definitely helping me improve my vocabulary, but perhaps not with the most useful words!
Question: What is "Ställen" ? It is mentioned on the first page of the first story, where the dad says something like "Fresh German Ställen on the table!" I looked it up but it wasn't in my dictionary, and my best friend from Germany has never heard of the word, nor her mother. Is this an actual noun, or the name of some sort of...cake? Thanks.
I'll update when I've read some more.
