Journal Entry 4 by DA-Cameron from Ditzingen, Baden-Württemberg Germany on Tuesday, February 17, 2009
I read this book as part of the (German) Bergabbau-Challenge.
I was fascinated by this book, not the least because it reads as a factual expedition report, with footnotes and reference literature and all. I wanted to check up everyone and anything I read about. ;-)
My favourite is, of course, Amy, the gorilla who can use sign language. (Wish the gorillas at my local zoo could tat, too...)
The parts dealing with industrial espionage and potential computer development - long outdated - were the ones I liked less. I could have done with only the parts describing the Congo expedition and the difficulties caused by rain forest, civil war and the like.
[Spoiler]
And I felt with Elliot when all the grey gorillays of the lost city died in the volcanic eruption. A new gorilla species would have been so fascinating!

Herzlichen Dank an DA-Cameron!!!
Found this book on my wife's bookshelf. Although I had to look up some scientific terms in the dictionary, the book was very thrilling and quite fast to read. The end was kind of foreseeable, but still a good book
Wird nun freigelassen.
