Saving Fish from Drowning: A Novel (Ballantine Reader's Circle)

I've loved Amy Tam's books of her Chinese Childhood but this one didn't work for me. She is trying to be clever and funny about a group of American tourists going off to see - more or less by themselves - some of the more obscure sights of old China. Good observation and good characters but the book seemed half-hearted to me. Maybe you will like it better

Received in the mail today - Thank you! I loved Amy Tan's other books, so I hope this one is good too. It's been on my wishlist for awhile.

This was interesting, but I agree - it's not quite as good as some of Amy Tan's other books (which I love!) But I enjoyed it and found myself looking up some of the places they visited to see what they looked like online. I'm happy to have found this on someone else's wishlist and I'm sending it along.
Thanks, Diane! I've only read one other of Amy Tan's books and loved it. I look forward to this one.
I'm thinning out my TBR shelf and see this on another BCer's Wishlist. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for thinking of me. You always send me such nice books just wish I had more time to read them.
