If I hadn't already promised this to sejent I think I would have put this in for the best book swap. The story is set in the 1960's although it feels more like the 1860's. The characters are beautifully created and really come alive. The story is set in backwoods America and is told by Reuben an asthmatic boy.It is about Davy his older brother, who shoots two other boys and tells what happen to him and the family when he escapes from his cell and goes on the run. The younger child, Swede, is a budding poet and through the book runs her epic Western narrative of Sundown. I hope sejent enjoys this book as much as I did.

Thanks so much, teachie! This looks like a great book and I'm looking forward to reading it.
