Review from Amazon.com:
As a Vietnam vet I have read many books on the war to try and understand my part in it. The Advisors is one of the first fiction accounts of the war I have read. I loved it. It was most enjoyable to read and is almost the catch 22 of the Vietnam war. The author had to at least have been in Vietnam and maybe in MACV as well. The pettyness of the rear area officers and troops and the hardships of the field troops is all in this book. The growth of character an individual gains with repeated stress and the desensitzation it produces as well as the emotions that occur are expressed very well. In addition much of it is done with humor and honesty. While it is difficult to express the hardships and catastrophic events of war in a fashion that that doesn't gross you out, Mr Rich has done an excellent job. The only problem I have is that I can't find another book written by him.

I received it today. Thanks for sending it to me; I'm looking forward to reading it!
Interesting book. It's quite a commentary on the complete and utter insanity of the war machine. Rich references Heller's Catch-22 a couple of times. While it's nowhere near the read of that hilarious classic, it has a similar feel.
