Journal Entry 2 by CynthiaA from Brantford, Ontario Canada on Saturday, April 26, 2008
I quite liked this book, and I was worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype.

Of the 3 sections -- Eat, Pray and Love -- I liked Pray the most. I enjoyed learning about the experiences she had and the different philosophies that were taught at the Ashram. I also really liked the 'other characters' in this section. I did like Eat, but it was self-indulgent. Although clearly her whole intent was to be self-indulgent for that time in her life. If it had been me, I would have spent a whole lot of time immersing myself in the history of the place -- something that clearly didn't interest Gilbert, which I do respect, but would have enjoyed reading aboaut. I enjoyed the Love section the least. Which is odd since Ketut Liyer might have been my favorite person she encountered. It was the other "stuff" in the Love chapter -- specifically the romantic stuff -- that lost my interest. I'm happy she found someone, but I didn't find it interesting to read about.

I plan on holding on to this for awhile. I'd like to re-read some sections at some point. But I will likely release it eventually.

Since the book is about travelling, it makes sense to send it on a journey, no?

Here is the Final List for the bookring for this book. I'm not a real "rules" kind of gal. Let's go with the "respect" rule, shall we? In order to respect the others in this bookring, please journal the book's arrival and endeavor to send it along within a reasonable timeframe. If you need to keep it more than four weeks please PM me and let me know. Enjoy!

i never could have imagined how much i could fall in love with this book. Despite the whole book is like a travelogue of Elizabeth on a spiritual journey, this book is to me a meditation guidebook and i cannot bring myself to put it down after reading the 1st chapter.
i am so thankful i read this book that gives me so much insight and Elizabeth basically made meditation less frightening and easier to accept especially for people who are new to it.
Thanks so much CynthiaA for putting mew up this ring to get to know this book. i am grateful for this opportunity.

Off to mozette!!! i do hope you will enjoy it as much as i do.

Yay! It's arrived! The weather's been so impossibly hot lately that all I've been wanting to do is read! So, when this book showed up, I realised today was the best day to get into some serious reading. It's 35deg C outside - too hot to get into editing a book or even staying on the net too long - and so here's the book to while away the hours and wait for the storm that is arriving later tonight.

I loved this book. The kooky characters had me laughing out loud, especially Richard from Texas. What a fascinating story of this woman's journey. I loved her honesty and her humor. Humor plays a big role in my life. I believe that I would go completely insane if I didn't find the funny in my day to day life. Liz Gilbert must subscribe to that same belief. Thank you so much for sharing this book with me!

I decided to give spaceystacey another chance to respond. I know that she's a pretty active bookcrosser and just didn't want to deny anyone the opportunity to read this book. krl112 asked to be skipped as she has already read the book. Stacey responded to my first PM so the book will be traveling to her next.

Home again! Thanks spaceystacey! I'm thinking of new readers for this, now that the movie is coming out. Julia Roberts in the lead. Not sure I pictured Roberts... but she'll do a fine job.

Update: Feb 10/10 I loaned this book to my friend Leslie.
