Rescued from the Oxfam shop.
Didn't like this one and it could have been so much better. Basic idea okay, but the telling of the tale was disappointing.
I got so bored with it I stopped when I was more than three quarters of the way through. None of the characters seemed real to me, the heroine least of all, and I didn't care what happened to any of them.
I resent the amount of time I wasted on this one, should have left it in the Charity Shop.

Putting into The Dunedan's Bookbox
Taken from TheDunedan's Bookbox No. 1.
I'm planning to try reading this (and considering lellie's view be interested to see how far I get!) and then release it again. It sounds interesting....

Really enjoyed this and I had no particular expectations, as I grabbed it from the table at a recent Bookcrossing meet. But when I checked on GoodReads I found I’d read another of the author’s books, The Drowning Tree, and also enjoyed it.
I have listed it on my GR virtual shelf of thrillers & mysteries, but it’s more than that really; it’s about identity and finding out about your family (mother). I like the author’s style of writing and particularly enjoyed the fairytales in the first part of the book.
A strong sense of place was well conveyed. I could really picture myself staying at the hotel, mingling with the others for the talks. Relationships between the staff and main characters were sketched in adeptly.
Definitely going to look for more of Carol Goodman’s books.
