Can't Wait to Get to Heaven

"In this comedy-mystery, those near and dear to Elner discover something wonderful: Heaven is actually right here, right now, with people you love, neighbors you help, friendships you keep. Can't Wait to Get to Heaven is proof once more that Fannie Flagg "was put on this earth to write" (Southern Living), spinning tales as sweet and refreshing as iced tea on a summer day, with a little extra kick thrown in."

This is the first time I have come across Book Crossing and a friend passed this book to me. Its not something I would normally choose, as I prefer period fiction and murder mysteries. However, I found this a sweet book, something that I wish I'd taken on holiday as a Summer read. It's a moral tale, with the unlikely heroine being an octagenerian named Elner Shimfissle and the profoundly positive effect she has had on the lives of a wide range of people.

I read 3/4 of the book in one go. I thought it was delightful and many people will grasp the underlying comedy as well as the heart renching traumas that played their way through the inter-linking passages. Charming. I am passing it on to a dear friend to read on her holidays.
