At the age of 18 Nazneen is sent from a Bangladeshi village to London to marry a man of more than twice her age. The story describes her life in the new town, the submission to her husband, to duty and to conventions of a Bangladeshi society within London and, of course, her break with those conventions.
The book was interesting in the beginning, but it doesn't tell much about Nazneens life other than what I would have imagined from all the newspaper and magazine articles one reads about this subject. Therefore after a while the story started to stretch like chewing gum - and I didn't manage to finish the book.

Edit:
Habe dieses Buch im Zug ausgesetzt.
