Wow, I haven't expected the book to travel that fast! :)
One book wants to be finished, then I can dive into the world of Thursday Next.

A great book with many fresh ideas, and beside all comic elements Fforde still has his focus on the more serious matters like the Crimean War. Thursday is a tough, likeable heroine, sometimes more sliding through the adventures than coping with them. The other characters are individuals as well, having their rough edges; my favourite is Thursday’s father and his mysterious mission. The universe Fforde designs equals ours but is as far apart as can be. I enjoyed the literary excursions - the trips into literature as well as the discussions about who wrote the Shakespear plays. Small narrative weakness is absolutly compensated by scurrility. Oh, and I want a dodo! ;)

Spoiler:
The end is a bit drippy, but Fforde perfectly mixes Thursday’s and Jane’s fate (btw, another nice move: to „rewrite“ the classic novel).

I’m impatiently awaiting Thursday’s next adventure!

For those who wanna know: Jasper Fforde runs several websites (easy access via the Fforde Grand Central). Very helpful is Jon Brierley's British Reference Notes. A Non-Brit's Guide to the Thursday Next series.

I enjoyed reading this book!
And I finished reading it just in time to continue reading the second novel ;-)

The air affair just arrived.
I already read the first novel in German language. I was looking forward to read the original.
Anyway, right now lots of rings are waiting in the line. I will try to get to this soon - if I can't manage.... I will send it on and wait for the 2nd novel of the series.
So - please let me know if you already can't wait to read. Otherwise I will keep you posted in a timely manner.
Thanks a lot!!

Sorry for keeping it sooo long.
I decided not to read the English edition in order not to stall this any longer. I just started the second one and I will send both off asap.
Just asking for the next address.

Thursday arrived here safe and sound on Friday, but I'm off to Scotland now and I won't take the books with me due to urgent weight-problems (it's not fair, actually - since booking this trip I've lost at least 2 kg, why can't I use these on my package now???)

sorry, due to some musical activities it took me quite a while to finish the last 100 pages of the Eyre Affair, but that was definitely not the book's fault.
<- travelled with me to Brussels

You're thrown into strange world without any explaning words at the beginning of the book, but nevertheless the story is gripping, funny, a little bit (too) romantic at the end and over all quite inventive. I really liked it. But I do like dodos anyway, and I don't know any other book with dodos ;-)

Thursday will be travelling home as soon as she can (as I also have a broken-down car and a post-office somehow not cooperating with the train's schedules...)

alors, la dodo lé la!
Since 7:00 this morning my "new" car is admitted - and our first way home will lead us to the post office :-)
