The Sleeping Doll

California Bureau of Investigation Special agent Kathryn Dance is an expert in kinesics -- the science of interpreting behaviour. It makes her a brilliant interrogator. But she's up against Daniel Pell, a master of control, who mesmerises, seduces and exploits people for his own murderous ends. A convicted killer who is known as 'The Son of Manson' for the chilling parallels between him and the notorious ritual murderer. To track down Pell before he destroys yet more lives, Kathryn Dance must enlist the help of four people from the killer's past. The three women who lived under his sadistic sway in the cult he once headed. And the young girl known as the Sleeping Doll, the only survivor of her family's slaughter at Pell's hands ...

I really like this book, though I prefer the Lincoln Rhyme thrillers. First I found the plot a bit "slow" (compared to other J. Deaver books). In the second half things speeded up. And - as usual - the story was full of surprises.

this book join us at the next Solingen meet-up
I caught this book yesterday at the Meet up in Solingen. It sounds really good and as I like Jeffrey Deaver - especially books without Lincoln Rhyme - I took it with me.
I liked the story a lot. Just as Ninaki alread said at the beginning it is a little bit boring. It just takes a bit until you know all the short phrases of special language and all the name's of the people taking part in it. But later on it becomes really thrilling.
I wondered why there were so much pages left after the end. But as I had to learn the end was by no means the end as there had been some more mysteries to unravel. And one of it more than surprising.
I don't like the Licoln Rhyme books so much because they are more technical. Kathryn Dance looks more on the behaviour of the people. Quite interesting for me.
